Shop Tibet
Indianapolis, IN (Broad Ripple)
Raise your hand if you know where Tibet is. Did you raise your hand? Whether you know about the sacred lands of Tibet where the famous Mt. Everest stands and where His Holiness the Dalai Lama was born or not, you'll love this little jewel of a shop nestled in the heart of Broad Ripple. Tibetans have been through a lot over the years, in particular when the Dalai Lama was forced to flee from the Chinese invasion in 1959 as their culture was being demolished. Tibetans are a very special people and Tibetan Buddhism has grown all around the world as they were dispersed to other countries. Thankfully a handful of Tibetans found there way to Indiana establishing the Indiana Buddhist Center and the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center as well as bringing their rare and precious items imported from India (where their government is currently in exile), Nepal, and Tibet. Shop Tibet is owned and operated by local Tibetans who will help you navigate their small store which upon entering transports you into their rich culture. You can find incense, jewelry, clothing, statues, books, music, and many other amazing items. Visit them at 835 East Westfield Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46220.
Fishers Gold and Coin
Fishers, IN
Over the past couple of years I have been interested in gold and silver as investments and found Fishers Gold and Coin. I knew nothing about metals or collecting but the owners and employees at the store helped me navigate all of the possibilities. I ended up having great conversations with them about the finance and the world and it has become a place I really enjoy visiting quite often. They have a great collections of pure gold and silver coins (for you gold and silver stackers out there) as well as all kinds of collectible coins with less silver content but a lot of collectible value. They get a lot of new inventory as people bring coins in daily so you'll never be disappointed. I've started buying silver coins as gifts for people and they absolutely love them. They are located in the Kroger Plaza at 116th and Allisonville Road. They are currently only open from 11am-2pm Monday-Saturday. Find more about the parent company online at goldandcoin.com.
