Doughtery Orchard
Cambridge City, IN
Growing up, Doughtery Orchard was one of my favorites in the area. I used to visit long before they got their petting farm which is attached and is an attraction especially for younger kids. What I love about Doughtery is that it's family owned and operated and is not overwhelming to navigate like some large orchards which have large seasonal events. It is simple and you can get the basics which I happen to love, apple cider and slushes, apples and caramel apples, pumpkins, and other goodies you'd expect from an apple orchard. Go check them out at doughteryorchards.com.
Spencer Farms
Noblesville, IN
Strawberries, sunflowers, and wine, oh my! Spencer Farms is just north of Indianapolis and a great getaway by yourself, with family or friends. I found Spencer Farm a few years ago while wandering around looking for something new to do. I'd heard about their sunflower farm but unfortunately just missed it that year but am so glad I decided to stop in anyway. They have a large farm store with local fruits and vegetables, sweet treats including candies and fudge, and amish cheese and meats. A bonus is that they also have a winery and their specialty is strawberries. If you're looking to hold an event, Spencer Farms would be a great place to take a look as well. This farm is charming and if you want to walk through fields of sunflowers on a hot late summer day then cool off with an apple cider slush, this is the place to go. They can be found at Spencerberryfarm.com.
